Reform Pilates has been part of the Larton community since early 2023, offering traditional mat and reformer Pilates classes, as well as one-to-one sessions. Rooted in the original methods developed by Joseph Pilates, our program emphasises precise, intelligent movement designed to support strength, alignment, and overall wellbeing.
Personalised, Professional Instruction
All our sessions are small-group or one-to-one, ensuring individualised attention and tailored support. Whether you’re recovering from injury, building core strength, or simply exploring movement, our classes offer a structured and supportive environment.

Now a team of three, we’re excited to expand our timetable to include classes seven days a week:

• Grace – Traditional mat and reformer Pilates Instructor
• Lucy – Physiotherapy-Led Traditional mat and reformer Pilates

The Two Core Forms of Pilates
Mat Pilates
Mat-based Pilates emphasises core strength, balance, and postural alignment using only your body weight and minimal props. It promotes flexibility, muscular endurance, and body awareness through controlled, ground-based movements.
Reformer Pilates
Reformer Pilates uses a spring-loaded carriage system to provide resistance and support. This format allows for a more dynamic, full-body workout and is especially effective for improving strength, range of motion, and movement precision.

The Six Principles of Pilates
These six foundational principles are at the heart of every session:
• Breath – Coordinated breathing fuels movement and engages the core.
• Concentration – Mental focus ensures form, alignment, and mindfulness.
• Flow – Movements connect seamlessly for a dynamic, rhythmic practice.
• Centering – All power comes from the “powerhouse” (core, hips, glutes, and back).
• Precision – Attention to detail minimises injury risk and optimises performance.
• Control – Intentional, muscle-specific movement improves functional strength.
